THIS KITTEN/CAT IS SOLD FOR: BREEDING/SHOW__ ____ PET ONLY______ *
Read the following completely and initial that you have read and agree to each term.
BREEDING If this cat/kitten has been purchased for breeding, the BUYER agrees not to resell/loan/lease/stud out this kitten/cat to another individual or cattery. The BUYER agrees not to change the cattery prefix in the cats name, but is free to name the cat. When the BUYER no longer wishes to breed and/or show this cat, the BUYER will offer this cat back to SELLER. If the SELLER denies the offer, the BUYER will neuter/spay this cat and either keep it as a pet, or place it in a safe indoor only pet home after it has been neutered/spayed. The BUYER will not resell this cat as a breeding cat. If the BUYER wants to place the kittens produced by this cat as breeding/show/intact, s/he will discuss it with SELLER prior to placement. SELLER does not guarantee the success of cats sold for breeding and/or showing. NC Persians Cattery only sells breeding cats to minimum cage catteries. Cats are social animals and are not meant to live in a cage. SELLER recommends that male cats especially, should have their own room of the house where they can be kept away from females as needed, but can have plenty of room to play, climb, and relax. BREEDING/SHOW BUYER INITIAL_______
This contract must be initialed, signed, and returned to buyer no later than when the kitten is picked up to be considered valid.
GENERAL Payment is accepted in cash at the time kitten is picked up (except the holding fee – has to be payed within 48 hours of reservation via Zelle, Venmo etc or cash). Exact time when kitten can leave the cattery cannot be given, but Kittens normally go to their new homes between 12 and 16 weeks of age, depending on weight, size, how long they have been eating solid food, social development. Some kittens may be ready before or after the estimated time frame. Kittens will not be allowed to leave early just because a certain time frame may be more pleasing to the buyers. BUYER INITIALS________
NC Persians Cattery is not a boarding facility. A boarding fee is charged when kittens are not picked up in a timely manner. Kittens that are ready to go must be paid for in full and picked up within two weeks of notification that they are ready unless otherwise arranged by written and signed contract. There is a $50.00 weekly boarding fee that begins on the first day after the kitten has been left for two weeks. The boarding fee will increase to $100.00 per week after the 2nd week ($50 week 1 + $50 week 2 + $100 week 3). Seller will not release kitten/cat to buyer unless all fees are paid, including any accumulated boarding fees due to late pick up. Kittens/cats not paid for in full, including any accumulated boarding fees due to late pick up, will be place back up for sale week 6 and NO REFUNDS will be issued due to failure to pay in a timely manner. BUYER INITIALS________
NC Persians Cattery is now a closed cattery for safety reasons. A closed cattery means that customers are no longer allowed to come to our home "just to see the kittens." We have found in the past that people have gone from cattery to cattery and that puts us and our kittens at risk. You are welcome to schedule a video call or we will meet you in a public place not far from our location. If You do not agree with this policy, NC Persians Cattery cannot sell a kitten to You. Initial only if You agree to this policy. BUYER INITIAL________
SELLER reserves the right to cancel a sale at any time prior to a kitten going home, for any reason. Depending on the circumstances of cancellation, a reason may or may not be provided. If SELLER cancels a sale, any money paid will be refunded to BUYER unless the cancellation is due to a breech in the contract by the BUYER. If a BUYER changes his mind for any reason, NO DEPOSIT will be refunded. BUYER INITIAL________
NC Persians promises to send updated photos via email, text, cattery website www.nc-persians.com, or Facebook of held kittens at least once every two weeks. We also promise to provide CFA registration papers, copy of pedigree and/or breeding pin if purchased, at the time said cat/kitten is picked up or delivered. BUYER INITIAL_________
SELLER will provide at least two round of vaccinations before the cat/kitten is delivered to the BUYER. All kittens will be microchipped and up to date on flea preventative. The BUYER can request FeLV/FIV and PKD as well as ANY OTHER TESTING for a kitten purchased for additional fee. All original records of medical care will be provided to the BUYER. BUYER INITIAL________
The BUYER agrees that under NO circumstances will the kitten/cat EVER be sold or given to a pet shop, animal shelter, research laboratory, or similar facility. If the buyer decides that s/he no longer wants the cat, regardless how many years have passed since purchase of the cat/kitten, the seller will be given the first option of rescuing the cat. BUYER INITIAL_________
It is understood that the Persian breed requires care and maintenance that surpasses that of other breeds. Some cats require weekly baths; their eyes and ears should be cleaned daily to protect their health; toes and claws must be carefully cleaned in order to avoid yeast infections. The purchaser agrees to maintain the health and cleanliness of cat. BUYER INITIAL_________
THE BUYER agrees to activate the free one month insurance from Trupanion provided by NC Persians. We also highly recommend to continue with the health insurance (of Your choice) through Your kittens life. BUYER INITIAL_________
Under NO circumstances shall this kitten/cat be permitted to spend time outdoors unsupervised. BUYER INITIAL_______
Under NO circumstances shall this kitten/cat be declawed as it will be considered the breach of contract. BUYER INITIAL______
1 Year limited health warranty:
SELLER does not provide refunds of deposits, unless SELLER cancels a sale. In the event of an ill kitten with a covered illness, a healthy exchange kitten will be offered. The following are covered illnesses: serious high grade heart murmur of grade 3 or higher, FIP, HCM or other genetic issue. SELLER provides a three (3) day limited warranty that Your purchased cat/kitten is free from feline leukemia virus (FELV) and the feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), external and/or internal parasites. This warranty will be voided if the quarantine was not accomplished and kitten/cat was introduced to other animal. * A special note: heart murmurs: Low grade 1 or grade 2 heart murmurs are not covered by this contract because these low grade heart murmurs are usually not considered serious, they are not contagious, and they often correct themselves over time. BUYER INITIAL________
Brachycephalic syndrome: A goal of the SELLER in breeding is to select away from stenotic nares and elongated soft palates. These traits are very common in the Persian breed. However Persians and Himalayans are Brachycephalic- and for this reason the SELLER offers no guarantee or warranty against any disorder, infection, or anatomical trait that may result due to being a brachycephalic animal. This includes, but is not limited to: stenotic nares, elongated soft palates, jaw misalignments or dental malformations. BUYER INITIAL________
This contract does not cover any other treatable illness that kittens may commonly get, such as, but not limited to: eye infection, respiratory infection, ear infection, and parasites or fungal infections, although NC Persians does our best to limit such occurrences. This contract does not cover any illness, treatable or otherwise, that said cat/kitten may contract later in life, or after the warranty date. No other illness/injury is covered under this warranty. There is no guarantee for show quality, personality, sexual development, or success of cats sold for breeding. These are factors that the breeder cannot always predict or control, and therefore will not guarantee. BUYER INITIAL_________
To validate warranty, BUYER must take the purchased cat / kitten to a licensed veterinary within three (3) days of the date of purchase for a health examination that includes testing for FELV and FIV. Buyer will quarantine said cat or kitten away from all other pets until vet exam is completed. If indicated by veterinarian the cat suffers of any serious disease, the BUYER must notify the SELLER immediately within 24 hours of the findings, to qualify for the first available exchange kitten/cat or refund. Under NO circumstances is the SELLER responsible for ANY veterinary charges or medical testing fees. BUYER is responsible for transporting ill cat/kitten to SELLER. BUYER will provide SELLER with a veterinarian signed note and a copy of the test results on his or her letterhead stationary explaining the findings. This guarantee will be void if the cat / kitten is exposed to any other animal between leaving the SELLER and the examination of the cat / kitten. BUYER INITIAL_________
The BUYER must understand that the cat / kitten may require additional boosters to achieve immunity, other than those provided by the SELLER, as well as annual vaccinations. The BUYER must understand that vaccinations do not guarantee immunity. The BUYER promises to maintain a preventative vaccination schedule as necessary, keep the cat in good health and activate the health insurance that is included with kitten. Seller strongly advises that prior to bringing home this cat/kitten, all other cats in the home should be tested negative for FELV and FIV, examined by a veterinarian, and vaccinated against common cat viruses, even if they appear healthy. BUYER INITIAL_________
BUYER understands that failure to perform the foregoing agreement will constitute a breach of contract. In the event of any such breach of contract, BUYER authorizes the original caregiver NC Persians to reclaim possession of the adopted cat and pay the penalty of 5000$ USD. BUYER INITIAL_________The court costs (if any) are to be paid by BUYER. BUYER INITIAL_________
BUYER agrees to keep NC Persians informed of current home address and phone number and stay in touch with original caregiver for at least 3 years from the day of purchase and send updates minimum every 6 month. BUYER INITIAL______

CONTRACT AGREEMENT DETAILS
Member of the Family! An indoor cat can live up to 20 years of age. Are You prepared to make a lifetime commitment to your cat? A cat is not a toy but a member of the family to be treated with love and respect. Your cat should share the house with You and not be locked in a basement, cage or another room separating the cat from the rest of the family. Reason: A cat who is not a member of the family will not be happy and may become withdrawn, mean or destructive. You should expect some mess and inconvenience with a cat as You would with a child.
Single Cat. It is recommended that kittens under 10 months of age be adopted in pairs unless there is a young cat already in the home. Reason: A kitten by itself will get lonely and may become depressed and/or destructive. Kittens and young cats need feline companionship.
Costs of Care, Including Vet Care. A single cat will cost about $800 per year in food, litter, and basic medical care. This does not include any health-related emergencies that may arise. Your cat will need an annual checkup, FVRCP every 3 years and rabies shots. Cats are subject to common ailments (especially Persians) that will periodically need to be treated by a vet. You are responsible for medical bills once you adopt the cat. Reason: The FVRCP booster prevents Your cat from catching distemper and other ailments (many of them fatal). Rabies shots are required by law even for indoor cats, and prevent Your cat from contracting rabies and passing it on to humans should the cat come into contact with a rabid animal. Expect Your cat to catch an occasional cold or ear infection. Expect medical needs to increase as Your cat gets older.
Children and other pets. If You have a child under 6 years of age, it is recommended to adopt a cat or kitten who is 6 months or older. Reason: Younger kittens are more fragile and can be accidentally injured by a small child. Also, young kittens have not learned yet to retract their claws. While a scratch is typically no more harmful than falling down on a playground and scraping a knee, young children who are scratched may develop an unnecessary fear of a kitten after being scratched. And, the kitten, in turn, may become fearful of a child who cries after being scratched. Children and pets make wonderful companions for one another when supervised and matched up appropriately.
Indoor Cats. You must keep the cat indoors at all times, unless the cat is in the carrier and accompanied by You. Reason: The average life span of a cat is 15-20 years when kept indoors and given proper care. The average life span of a cat who wanders outside is two years. Cats are killed and injured by cars every day on neighborhood streets as well as major roads. Other dangers include contracting diseases from other cats, getting hurt in fights with other animals, and being poisoned, abused by people who find it annoying for cats to wander onto their property or being stolen.
Declawing. Our cats MAY NOT BE DECLAWED. If You want a declawed cat our cat is not for you. Reason: Declawing is cruel, physically and psychologically, and completely unnecessary. A cat’s claws function as part of its fingers and toes. Declawing means amputating the last joint of a cat’s toes. The surgery and recovery is extremely painful. Declawing impedes a cat’s ability to walk and play as well as protect and groom themselves. Psychologically, cats need to claw as part of their grooming ritual and many cats knead with their claws to express comfort. Declawed cats tend to have higher levels of anxiety because they feel defenseless and often become biters. They also tend to react to stress by acting out such as by not using their litter boxes. Frequent
clipping of the tip of the claw can help alleviate damage due to scratching. A volunteer or Your vet can show you how to properly clip claws. Give Your cat plenty of appropriate things to scratch and gently correct Your cat if it scratches the wrong things. A little patience, positive reinforcement, and consistency in training alleviates the vast majority of scratching problems.
Giving Up Your Cat. If You can not keep the cat You adopted from us, you MUST NOTIFY our cattery. DO NOT take the cat to a shelter!!! Reason: We want our cats to be cared for all their lives. Keep Your contract after adopting Your cat. Please offer to return the cat to us first. If You ever have to give up the cat, call us at NC Persians Cattery – FB page or (910) 527-8256. Do not for any reason take your cat to an animal shelter. If You have a friend/family member/trusted person who wants to adopt Your cat, please notify us so we can process their application and sign the new contract so as to have their information on file.
Home Visit. We will NOT come to Your home to visit the cat after adoption to make sure You and the cat are happy. But we would like to stay in touch and appreciate any information about the cat in the future. Reason: We want our cats placed in loving homes. Most health or behavioral problems can be fixed if addressed as soon as possible. We are happy to offer You our knowledge and experience to solve any possible problem.
The vast majority of people provide excellent homes for their pets. However, there are some people who do not provide a suitable home or proper care. And, occasionally personality conflicts arise between a certain cat and a certain person. If this occurs, and is not resolved in a few weeks, it’s best to return the cat and discuss the possibility of adopting another cat.
